Sacraments of Initiation

By Peace | April 25, 2006

Sacraments of initiation: Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist(First Communion), bring the faithful to the full stature of Christ and enable them to carry out the mission of the church within the faith community and in the world at large.

Through the water of Baptism and the power of Holy Spirit, the new member and young and mature alike, are incorporated into the Body of Christ, are formed into God’s people and receive the forgiveness of their sins.

Confirmation ratifies and strengthens the bonds of communion with the church, both on earth and in heaven. In Confirmation, they are signed with the gift of the Holy Spirit, become more perfectly the image of Christ, are empowered with the Spirit to bear witness before all the world, and to work for the building up of the body of Christ; In the Eucharist, finally, they come to the table of the Lord, to be nourished by the Body and Blood of Christ so that they might have eternal life and reflect the unity of God’s people.
