Good Friday

It is said that Jesus died on the cross to save us from sins. He has used his blood to redeem us. But how? I don’t understand how is that possible! Alas, I experienced it, and I understand it and it was a miraculous wonder, a great art — death and resurrection; transformation.

Indeed Jesus died to save us from sins. I was a sinner, never did I know that I was a murderer… Never did I know that I had committed adultery… woes to me and thank you Jesus for saving me. The thought that Jesus had done so much for me, and saved me from my sins, filled my heart with gratitude. How can I repay such kindness and what can I do for him?
What shall I give for Christmas To Him who gave himself for me? To Him I give my life, my love, For time and for eternity. ~Anon

As mentioned, I was reading Our Daily Bread, Day 1:

A little boy was somewhat perplexed by all the exchanging of presents on Christmas morning, for he had been taught in Sunday school that it was the birthday of the Saviour. Finally, after a long period of silence, he asked,”Mommy, when are we going to give Jesus His present? I thought it was His birthday!” Strange, isn’t it, that most of us give gifts to everyone but the One whose birthday we celebrate. A good question we might ask ourselves is this: What am I going to give to the Lord Jesus this Christmas? If you have never trusted in Him as your Saviour, the thing He desires most from you is a believing heart. Why not put your faith in Jesus’ sacrificial death on the cross so you can be saved from your sins? If by faith you already know Christ as your Saviour, then the most wonderful thing you can do this Christmas is to present to God the one gift He most desires to receive from you — your body. (Romans 12:1)

Our bodies are to be used for God’s purposes. Because we have accepted the gift of salvation from Him, it’s only reasonable that we should present ourselves to the Father. When we give ourselves, we give the One Christmas present that truly fits the occasion! ~Richard De Haan Give your all to Christ; He gave His all for you.

The Story of Good Friday
From noon on, darkness fell upon the whole land and lasted till the middle of the afternoon. For three hours Jesus was suffering from the pain of the nails in His bleeding hands and feet. He cried out,”My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”

His mother stood near the cross. Jesus said to His mother,”Woman, there is your son.” Then He said to the disciple John,”There is your mother.”

He cried out,”I am thirsty.” Someone dipped a sponge into a dish of vinegar, and raised it to His mouth upon a stick.

Knowing that His work was done, Jesus cried out in a loud voice,”It is finished. Father, in Your hands I place My spirit.”

And having said this, Jesus died.

Meaning of Good Friday
Jesus gave His life to save us from our sins. In His great love and goodness He suffered death for us, and by this death He won life for us. We must want to use our life to love and serve Him.
