Palm Sunday 2009

On this day, 5th April 2009, the family walked to church as usual. On the way, there were so many myna on the field (the usual field, where white cranes were present).

This is Holy Week, a week that commemorates Jesus Christ’s suffering, death on the cross, and resurrection on the third day.

The Sunday before Easter is known as Palm Sunday, which falls on 5th April 2009 — the beginning of Holy Week. It celebrates Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem on the back of a donkey. Great crowds of people thronged the streets waving palm branches to welcome Him. The people shouted “Hosanna” and laid their cloaks and palm branches from the nearby trees in His path.

On this day, 5th April 2009, Palm Sunday, the congregation gathered outside the church. Most of the people were carrying Palm leaves. I do not know where to take them, but in the end, I asked a little boy for it. That was the only Palm leaf I have (and I gave it to my mother).

I saw Father Terence. Wow, he looked so nice in the red vestment. It was such a spectacular sight, even though the children and I were perspiring.

It’s so long since I last saw this cross with Jesus on it…
