The triumphal Entry also known as Palm Sunday celebrated as the first step on the Road to the Cross during Holy Week in many churches.

Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey, fulfilling an ancient prophecy. The crowds welcomed him by shouting “Hosanna” thus ascribing to him a messinic title as the agent of the Lord, the Coming King of Israel.

The name Palm Sunday got its name from people young and old that were in the crowds shouting “Hosanna” waving Palm Branches in the air to welcome the coming king.
