Washing Of Feet

Maundy Thursday or Holy Thursday is the Thursday before Easter. On this day, Christians remember it as the day of the Last Supper, when Jesus washed the feet of his disciples and established the ceremony known as the Eucharist, the breaking of the bread, on the very last night of His life.

On this Holy Thursday, which is my first time attending, there was an reanactment of Jesus washing the disciples’ feet by Father Bruno and the other ministers. Father Bruno went round the men, pouring water on their feet and dried them, as the song Great Is The Love was being sang.

Disciple of Jesus
My bell was rang… I remembered what happened last year. It was Jesus ‘washing my feet’, and not only my feet…. it was a memorable and unforgettable experience; an unimaginable and miraculous event that happened in my life. Words from Jesus, said: Follow Me. Supernatural things happened in my room, next to my bedside — spectacles dropped, the shoes moved and produced ’stepping sound’ etc. I was so touched everytime I heard this song. I shed my tears uncontrollably. Clara asked me why I cried everytime I heard this song. So that was what I answered her…. Jesus had ‘washed my feet’ and not only feet…. I was thoroughly washed clean, very clean.

The foot washing ceremony is an act of love.

“Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.” (John 15:13)
and Jesus Christ did just that for our forgiveness, salvation, and eternal life.
